Pasir Gudang Working Trip…

OK, another updates.. haha..

Went to Pasir Gudang on the 26/04 (Sat). My company had rented a car for us to drive there. My senior drove and came to pick me up in the morning. But the traffic jam at the Causeway was really heavy. It took us around 1 1/2 hour just to get to the Woodlands checkpoint. By the time we reach JB, it was 1+pm liao. We went to Taman Sentosa for a quick lunch and then continued our journey to Pasir Gudang. In the begining, we kind of lost the direction heading. But after asking the locals, we managed to get back on track. When we reached the port in Pasir Gudang, it was around near to 4pm liao.

Reaching the rig, our supervisor who was there, briefed my senior on the outstanding things to do. Then we went to the rig and arranged our accomodation. Rested awhile, had our dinner on the rig and then went to sleep.

The next few days was working days. During the nite, after we knock off, we sometimes went out of the port to had our dinner. One of the day, we went to Taman Sentosa for dinner. Another day, our supervisor brought us to a kelong by Orang Asli to had seafood dinner. It was really great food. The chili crab that we had was big and nice. The craw of the crab is like the size of drumstick. The other seafood dishes was nice too. Another of the nite, we went to a local hawker for dinner. The area is like olden days of Singapore. The food is nice and cheap too.

The work there took us till 05/05 to complete, That nite, before we came back, we went for another seafood dinner at the kelong. When we reach home in Singapore, it is around 10pm. Took a bath and check my emails. Then went to sleep cause the next day still working. Next day, went back to office and settle the paperworks. Then took the next day off to go and settle some personal errands.

Updates 4

Another quick update from where i stop the previous time.

The rest of April, i was travelling overseas to work. Well, not really work, but went overseas with seniors and supervisor to learn about my work. My first overseas trip was with my supervisor and went to a rig somewhere in Indonesia sea. Set off on 17/04 (Thurs) afternoon at 3.30pm on SQ flight. The traveling was really sucks. It took me about 18hrs to reach the rig. With flight transfers and ferry ride.

The trip was quite interesting and i have learned quite alot of stuffs there. And also understand the working structure and culture on drill rigs. After the first rig’s work was done, we went to another rig just nearby to verify some issues. And that takes a few days. After the verification was done, its time to go home. The trip back home also took about 18hrs. By the time i reached home, it was ard 11pm at night on 23/04 (Wed).

The next day, i took day off to go and collect my van from spray painting. Had sent my van for spray painting before i went overseas. I wanted to change my van’s color to a darker tone of blue, called WRX blue. Had always wanted this color since the time i buy my van. It is the same color i had for my car in USA when i was there.

Anyway, reached the workshop, but found that the van is not for collection yet, will only be ready at evening time. So i decide to change my schedule and took a taxi to Tiong Bahru Plaza to buy and read comics and also watch the movie ‘Forbidden Kingdom’ by Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Then i took taxi back to the workshop and collected my van. Found that they had misplaced one of my LED strip which is at the side of my van. The boss told me to come another day to search for the LED Strip as it was too dark at that time to find it.

The next day, i went to back to office and was told that i will be going to Pasir Gudang in Malaysia with a senior for a commissioning job. The rest of the day was spent clearing the previous job’s paperworks, as well as preparing the paperworks for the upcoming job. At nite, i decide to make a trip to the workshop to find the LED strip. As i also found out that one of my side door couldn’t be opened from inside. And 2 rubber lining above the doors are not stick properly and are coming off. But when i reached the workshop, the boss told me that the worker who are familiar with my van was not around that day and to come back on sun. I told the boss that i will come 1 week later as i will be going overseas again liao.

At night, i went for the EVC regular meetup , STOP, at Queens Bar. Chit chat with my friends there. Next day, my senior is coming over to pick me up. My company had rented a car for us to drove to the location.

Updates 3

Ok ok, i have not been updating my blog for almost the whole of April. Well, i was away for overseas work for almost half of April. Anyway, i will try to fill in from where i stop previously.

Tuesday (25/03), friends from EVC organised a Cheesecake outing at East Coast Road. At first dun know whether to go or not. In the end, decide to go for it. Most of them are meeting up for dinner at a Teochew Yong Tau Hu store nearby there. Was told that the shop is quite famous and good. Was a little late when i reach there. Cause i have to travel by SLE –> TPE –> Tampines Ave 10 –> Bedok North — > Upper Changi Road –> Siglap Road and then circle around to look for parking. And in the end, i went to park in Siglap Center.

Meet up with the guys and had dinner, which was quite good, but slightly ex. But its worth the money. After the dinner, we walked over to the cheesecake cafe and i ordered Rum & Rasin Cheesecake. Its quite nice. And also had Ice Mocha Float. Chatted and laughed with the guys till around 11+pm before heading the long way home again.

From Monday (31/03) to Friday (04/04), was on course at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The course was Fundamentals of Industrial Hydraulics. Some of the stuffs learnt at the course is really dry, like calculations. But some of the theory is quite interesting and useful.

On Wednesday (09/04), met up with WLNY friends at Tiong Bahru Plaza for dinner and chit chat session. We had Aijisen Ramen at Tiong Bahru Plaza. There is alot of renovation and expanding going on at Tiong Bahru Plaza.  The Aijisen Ramen was the latest add-on in Tiong Bahru Plaza. And there are more shops to come.

And on the Thursday (10/04), EVC Committee had a committee dinner at Sunset Bar & Grill inside Seletar Airbase. All the committee members came and it was fun. The food was quite nice, and the buffalo wings really test a person ability to take spicy stuffs. I had level 3 and already felt the spicy power liao. One of them accidentally ordered a level 10 and that was really spicy!
