CNY Over..

It has been a week since i last blog. 15 days of CNY has passed, along with the 10 million dollars ToTo Lunar Draw. 10 people strike the ToTo and shared the money. Some events, good and bad had happened during the this period of time.

Well, we all know that the Singaproe Zoo icon, Ah Meng, had died on the 2nd day of CNY due to old age. A sad day for the caretaker of Ah Meng since she came to Singapore Zoo. Next, we had the Edison’s racy photos issue, which really makes the Hong Kong Media frenzy. Edison went to USA immediately after the photos had turn up in the internet. And the media news had splashed the event on the headlines of almost every newspaper. More photos turned up in the the internet everyday. Hong Kong police arrested about 10 people who had upload the photos into the internet. People went into finger pointing, protest, name calling… etc. Internet become a crazy medium to voice out displeasures, views, jokes, criticism,..etc, common to all when some significant event happened.

Yesterday, Edison went back to Hong Kong almost 1 month after the photos started turning out in the internet. He had held a media conference and admitted taking those photos. He said that those photos are for personal and had never wanted to distribute it or let anyone see it. The photos are stolen from his laptop, when it was sent for repaired, and had been maliciously distributed without his consent and knowledge. He apologised to all and to the ladies and their families. In my view, he dun owes everyone apologies, except for those ladies who are involved and their families. Almost everydays, such videos appeared in the internet and nobody create a big hoo haa from it. But because it is a artiste who is the main character, things goes crazy and words start to fly around. Coupled with the power of internet, things really goes crazy. Edison had decided to leave the Hong Kong entertainment and returns to USA. Well, whether this will put a stop to this crazy event or it will push the topic further, time will tell.

Next event was the death of the Hong Kong comedian Artist, Lydia Sum. She was the ‘Happy Nut’ of Hong Kong and had acted in numerous Hong Kong comedy movies, that had bring laughter to lots of people. The news of her death had affected may people, including her close friends, relatives, her fans, her colleagues….etc. She had been sick and had been in and out of hospital and had really frail alot. The last i saw her on TV, she was really downsized from her usual size. She left behind her only daughter, age 20, from her last marriage to Zheng Shao Qiu. Her marriage ended with divorce. But till the last day, she still had feelings for him. Her last wishes was for her friends to help take care of her daughter.

The newspaper and media have been reporting about her life story and her ups and downs. After reading thru some of it, u can really feel about her strong will and her love for Zheng Shao Qiu. She was loved by many, as well as respect by many. Hong Kong people mouns for her death. Well wishes have been flooding the blog of her daughter asking her to take care.

Her body will be sent back to canada to be buried beside her parents. Hong Kong will be holding a ceremony to mourn for her as well as played the video of her burial ceremony. Reading the news of her death, it really brings up the emotion and then i remembered how my grandmother died. She died in the middle of the nite and by the next day when we found out, it was too late for us to do anything liao..

Yesterday was also the draw date for the Yearly Lunar New Year TOTO $10 million draw. Read from the news that 10 people share the top prize with each getting $1 million. Sigh.. how come i am not one of them?? Today is friday, and at last weekend is arriving soon. My mechanical course for one of the equipment that i will be servicing ended just now. Last monday, i also went for the Shipyard Safety Induction Course. A course that everyone who will be working in shipyard needs to take.

Oh ya, last sat, went out with some friends from WhoLivesNearYou to celebrate the birthday of Matthew. Matthew was surprise that we bought a cake and celebrate his birthday (which is on Tues, 19/02) at the McDonald at Tiong Bahru Plaza. I just told him that we are meet out for lah teh (stir tea) and chit chat. I went to bought the cake from Angie The Choice. After the celebration, we went to see the midnite show for “Jumper”. Quite good and interesting movie. Think there will be a part 2, since some of the characters seems not complete in the movie.

Some of the photos for the celebration of Matthew’s birthday.

After CNY…

It has been few days after CNY liao. Today is the 8th day. Tonite, alot of people will be praying to the ‘Tian Gong’. I used to do that when my grandmother is still alive. But since her death, we have been stop doing that liao…

Anyway, just before CNY, i have registered my Facebook account. And since then, i have been playing it. kekeke. Quite interesting too. Facebook is something like Friendster, but with more applications for it. The applications can be moved around and placed where i wanted it to. There are lots and lots of applications out there. Some are for making more friends, some are for playing games, some are for showing information about urself, some are for giving ‘gifts’ to your friends. And the loading is much faster than Friendster. Now, Friendster also start to have applications for friends to install liao.

Since i registered on Facebook, had been finding friends on it. Fund some secondary and polytechnic friends in it. Some of them had confirmed my request to add them, some of them, i am still waiting. Also found 2 of my cousins, Elaine and Stanley. I have also install some apps for giving gifts and mainly games. The games i am playing on the Facebook is PetrolHead, OneTrack, Plane Crazy, Rockstar Cars, Fluff Friends, Vampires, Slayers, Zombies, Werewolf, Heroes Ability, Parking Wars, My FB House, Friends For Sale, Sudoku, Scramble..etc Its kind of fun, and since i didn’t went out to visit relatives during CNY, i stayed home and play and explore Facebook.

Anyway, its Valentine’s Day today, though i never really celebrate Valentine’s Day before. Anyway, I wish everyone Happy Valentine’s Day. Today is also 1/2 month since i started work, although, i had only been working for 6.5 days. Haha. Still waiting for my course to start. Really starting to get bored seating around the office…..

On the happy days of many, this is a sad day to some…

S’pore’s favourite Orang Utan, Ah Meng diesTHE Singapore Zoo’s most famous and well-loved Orang Utan, Ah Meng has passed away on Friday due to old age. She was approximately 50 years old.She was born in Sumatra, Indonesia around 1960 and came to the Zoo when she was about seven years old in 1971 when she was confiscated from the Chinese family who had kept her as an illegal pet.

In 1982, Ah Meng’s big break came when she became the star attraction of the Zoo’s ‘Breakfast with an Orang Utan’ programme.

The loveable Orang Utan rose to fame quickly, and has been featured in numerous travel films and print articles.

In 1992, Ah Meng became the first and only non-human recipient of the Singapore Tourism Promotion Board’s (STB) Special Ambassador award for her contributions.

In her lifetime, Ah Meng has also rubbed shoulders with foreign dignitaries and famous celebrities including Prince Philip and Michael Jackson.

The Zoo’s curator, Mr Alagappasamy (aka Sam) has taken care of Ah Meng since she first came to the Zoo.

He is extremely saddened by her departure and though it may ‘take a long time’ for him to adjust not having her around, he is ‘very happy to have had the opportunity to take care of Ah Meng and her family all these years’.

Group CEO of Wildlife Reserves Singapore, Ms Fanny Lai said: ‘We mourn the passing of Ah Meng. She has touched the hearts of everyone who has met her and contributed immensely in helping promote awareness of how each and every one of us can play a role in anti-poaching, anti-deforestation and conservation matters’.

Ah Meng leaves behind two sons Hsing Hsing, Satria, and two daughers, Medan and Sayang and six grandchildren.

She will be reposed at the Zoo’s Garden with a View from 9-11am on Feb 10 where the public can visit her for the last time. Her memorial service will take place shortly after at 11am.

Didn’t really remember how she looks like, cause only saw her when i was very young. After that, didn’t really go to the zoo liao. But i guess been the Zoo icon for such a long time, there is sure to be people who will be sad for her. Well, at least she had died of old age. Hope that she will rest in peace.

新年快樂, 萬事如意

Let me start by wishing everyone whose reading my blog, 新年快樂, 萬事如意.

Just finished sending out sms greeting to my friends in my handphone. Well, Windows Mobile 6 isn’t that friendly for sending sms to multiple users. I have to keep adding the receipients one at a time. (or is it i dunno the method?) Anyway, after finished sending, decide to do abit of blogging before i head to sleep.

At last, Chinese New Year had arrived. Yesterday was half day at work. After knock off, went home and found out that the coffeeshop nearby were not opened for business. So i cooked instant noodles for lunch. Then rest abit before do some minor cleaning up of my room and vacuum the house. After that, was tired, so went to take a nap and wake up at 6pm. Wash up and got ready for reunion dinner. My brothers had already arrived when i woke up. haha. After the dinner, watch the tv programs and watch Kamen Rider Den-O while also chatting on msn with my friends.

Then when the time is near, started to write the sms to send to my friends. Took me awhile to complete the task. Will be going to sleep soon. Tomorrow dunno wat time going to wake up… hehehe.

Anyway, my handphone just confirmed that the sms that i was sending have all just been sent. :)

Blogging from workplace

Today is Chinese New Year Eve. And its my 4th day at work. It’s half day today. Yeah. Now counting down to knock off. This few days, nothing much to do at work, cause have not attend any course yet. So these few days have been reading the manuals. Only got my laptop yesterday. It’s a HP Compaq 6710b, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 120HDD, 15″ LCD Screen. Also included are a laptop bag and a mouse. Not a bad configuration. Also access my working email mailbox. Learnt that i am able to access my working emails from the internet.

At work, saw some of the my ex-colleague from RSAF. Gwee, who was my senior, and Tay, who is one of my juniors but in another section. Han Suai will be starting his electrical course next week. Heard that the mechanical course will be end of march. But on the 18/02, will be going for the Shipyard Safety Induction Course at Peak Seah Street by NTUC Learning hub. This course is required for us to be able to go to the shipyard. Next week should be able to get my safety boots and other PPE.

Saw some of the engineering drawings and schematics 2 days ago. Well, some of the symbology looks stranger to me. Cause i haven’t been seeing this kind of symbols for quite some times liao. RSAF uses other kind of symbols for schematics. Well, time for me to pack up and get ready to go home liao..

First Day at work..

Yesterday was my first day at work. Reached my workplace early. Cause in the morning, i also sent my mum to Woodlands MRT and setting off early would avoid any heavy traffic. Since i was early, i went to the nearby canteen to have breakfast. When i was going back to my workplace, i made a blunder. I turned into another building by mistakes. haha. The building which was beside my workplace has almost the same color and design. And when i turned in, there was also no security guard at the guard, so i didn’t realize till after i parked my van and was approaching the building’s entrance. I then saw the big sign “Hitachi” at the top. I quickly drove and went back to the correct building.

While waiting at the reception area, got to know Idras (hope i spell correctly) and Han Suai, both of them are also same as me, first day of work. Idras is working as Workshop mechanic and Han Suai is same as me, Service Engineer, but on Electrical. In the morning, was briefed on the Medical Insurance. Next was a lengthy briefing on safety culture in NOV which lasted till 2pm. Was really trying hard to stay awake and not to yawn during the briefing. haha.

The safety culture in NOV is somewhat similar to what i experience in the air force. And NOV is also implementing the Occupational Safety and Health. Think alot of workplace is starting this after more stricter rules by the authorities because of more workplace deaths and injuries. After 2pm, went to see the supervisor and was given a very short brief. Then was told to read some manuals which 90% of it, i dun understand. hahaha. And at 5pm, it is knock off and home sweet home. :)

Today, went to 居士林 at river valley to pray to my ancestor and also my grandmother, cause Chinese New Year coming liao. Went to my old estate at Beo Cresent to pick up my mother. Had Hokkien Prawn Noodles there. Long long time never eat from that store liao. Then chat up with the soya bean drink store owner. Know him for very long liao. After praying, went to tiong bahru plaza to buy comics, then went to Sim Lim Square for awhile and then back to tiong bahru plaza for my usual ice-blended coffee and read comics. After that, bought mandarin oranges for CNY and dinner and came home to eat while watching Kamen Rider Den-O. heehee

Work Work Work

It’s 2am now, and i will be starting work at my new job in 6hrs time. And i am still awake and blogging. hahaha.

I will be waking up at 6am, then wash up and then set out around 6.30am to 6.40am. Why so early? Well, to send my mum to Woodlands MRT and then go to my new workplace from there. I like to set off early so that to avoid any heavy traffic conditions along the way. Its a new job and so i dun wish to be delayed or held up by any traffic conditions. Set off early and if i reach there early, i would go to see any canteen nearby to have breakfast. :)

Okie. need to go to sleep liao… zzzzzzz
