Beyond, one of the great band from Hong Kong that i like. I first got to know about Beyond when i watch the Chinese Movie “Happy Ghost IV” <開心鬼救開心鬼> when i was young. In the movie, the four members of Beyond acted as four students who got to know the Happy Ghost and started some comedy from it. The sang quite a few songs and i found it quite nice. I went to look for the cassette (those days were cassette) of that album. Later on, i got hold of the cantonese version. I would say that my realm into cantonese songs started from Beyond. I continued to collect their albums when i can and felt that their songs are really nice. When they release their Live Concert album, i immediately bought it. It was 4 cassette then. I listened to it almost everyday.Then one day, i heard the news of one of the Beyond’s Member, 黃家駒, fell from the stage in Japan and was hospitalised. He later passed away from head injuries. I felt very pity. 黃家駒 was the lead singer as well as the composer of most of the songs from Beyond. He really has a very great voice and his songs has great tune as well as great meanings. His death was a shock to Hong Kong music industry. His younger brother, 黃家強, (who is also part of Beyond) wrote a song as a remembrance to his brother. Later, some of Hong Kong Artists made an album singing some of Beyond’s song as a tribute to 黃家駒. The following clip is a news of his death in Japan and his funeral by TVB in 1993.

 

Some of the songs dat i like most from Beyond is 真的愛你, 灰色軌跡, 冷雨夜, 喜歡你, 大地, 不再猶豫, and of course 海闊天空.
